I have almost 20 years experience in a wide range of IT and Technology roles. I have worked as an electronics engineer, .net systems analyst and programmer, service desk manager, head of operations and head of IT partnering. I have a range of qualifications in IT and Project Management and have worked across a large number of strategic projects.
Innovation and Creativity
Part of my work at Lancaster University involved setting up an Innovation Unit, designed to take innovative ideas, many without a business case and to rapidly try then. This lead to a number of projects including a 360 degree VR tour platform, building the campus in Minecraft, a YikYak style platform for sharing tips.
I am experienced with the challenges of engaging with stakeholders, gathering ideas, failing quickly and motivating an agile team, and have presented at a number of national conferences and at other universities.
I have experience in traditional and agile project management methods as well as adapting and creating new methods specifically around innovation and idea generation.
Leadership and Management
Working with engineers, programmers, support staff, managers and leaders has allowed me to observe how people craft success and how the best leaders work. I have created and led organisational and structural change as well as having to deal with difficult strategic changes. I have coached and mentored leaders and team on how to work with corporate strategy and define and execute their own role within this.
